Standing Rigging

Sailing School and Rigging have recently taken delivery of a new WIRETEKNIK swaging machine.

Wireteknik swaging machine, swaging wires from 2.5 to 8mm.

At Sailing School and Rigging we have in-house swaging from 2mm to 8mm for rigging for most yachts up to about 40ft in length. Having worked in the industry for 38 years, my record of yacht spars/rigging is second to none.

Sailing School and Rigging can also supply rigging over long and supply Sta Lok self fit rigging screws for fitting on site, this works well if it's a new mast and you do not know rigging lengths. I can also offer a mobile swaging service for wires up to 6mm.

If you have a boat that needs re-rigging just drop me an email. I can quote with or without rigging screws. If you go for the rigging screw option I only supply Sta-Lok, not the cheapest but in my opinion the best!

We can supply replacement rigging to exact customer specifications.  For each rigging item, we need to know the wire type and diameter. Measure lengths with the rigging screws set up as on the boat. We will supply replacement rigging to that length, with the rigging screws two-thirds open. We can also supply new rigging if we have the old rigging here to copy.

See "Helpful information page" for more detail on I, J, P and E.

We stock Sta-Lok terminals.

The term standing rigging describes the type of rigging used in the marine industry for providing the support that allows a mast to stand in a yacht.  1 x 19 stainless wire is the normal wire used on most dinghies/yachts.  The firm strand rope is constructed from 19 individual circular strands.  These are configured with 7 strands as a central core and 12 strands spread around the core.
